OCT 7 Afternoon "Fun" Chess Event Registration

This Wednesday, October 7 from 1-4pm, Young Master Chess will host it's first Afternoon Chess Event.

This will be a fun afternoon filled with learning & playing chess variant games like Fischer Random, Give-Away Chess, Atomic Chess, Battleship Chess & more.

Chess Club Registration Forms

Young Master Chess clubs are being formed NOW at 10 Charlotte-area schools for the 2015-16 school year. You should receive a registration form directly from your child's school.

New Events for the 2015-16 School Year!

Young Master Chess is excited to announce an expanded events schedule this year! Mark your calendars now!


  • Our annual Fall, Winter & Spring tournaments (scheduled on teacher work days). These will be full-day, unrated tournament events.
  • NEW! Fun half-day afternoon events (scheduled for the new CMS "early-release" days). These will be less serious, chess-themed pizza afternoons - including some favorite chess variant events.
  • NEWSaturday tournaments, including both RATED & UNRATED sections! These will be full-day, weekend tournaments.

Congratulations FM Mike Klein, 2015 Chess Journalist of the Year!

For the second time, the Chess Journalists of America have named FM Mike Klein 'Chess Journalist of the Year' in its annual awards competition. Mike also won the title in 2012.

The CJA is an organization of American chess journalists who strive to promote high quality chess journalism as well as offer assistance and contacts to journalists in the field. Its annual awards program recognizes chess coverage for news, feature articles, books, photojournalism, and other media coverage.
